It is so easy to get carried away and have all your drink calories add up way too fast. With this super easy, super skinny margarita, you have nothing to worry about!

    3 Ingredient Skinny Margaritas - The easiest margarita you'll ever taste - under 70 calories!! www.happyfoodhealthylife.com #skinny #margarita #alcohol

I haven't posted a cocktail on here in a long time! To be honest, my wife is the drink-master in our home, so the well has been pretty dry over here. Well, unless you count my nightly glass of wine. But as for anything mixed that requires me to measure anything out. Nope, not a lot has been happening in that department for the last 4 months. But with Cinco de Mayo early next week, I thought I'd whip up one festive beverage that I knew I could make with no problem.

About 3 years ago, we discovered this super easy recipe for re-creating a margarita with just a few ingredients and for half the calories of the normal margarita you'd get at any restaurant or by using margarita mix, which is just full of sugar. I don't know about you, but I am not a fan of drinking all my calories. We are always trying to find ways to make our drinks just a tad bit skinnier by being choosy about our mix-ins. They can really add up, if you're not careful. (sidenote: I actually wrote a post back in the day about Making Smarter Drink Choices, if you're interested.)

Back in the day, when I was still struggling with my eating disorder, I would go the whole day not eating just go I could enjoy my drinks later that night. So not healthy. So not safe. So so stupid. (and made for some WICKED hangovers!) Thank goodness those days are over. And thank goodness for drinks like these that make it easy to not worry quite as much as I normally would have over drink calories.

I did a quick comparison on a regular margarita that you would order at a restaurant or a bar, and the total calories for a low-ball sized drink are about 170! Now that may not sound like a whole lot to you, but really, who ever drinks just one margarita?? Especially when you're enjoying Mexican food and celebrating something like Cinco de Mayo! So as you can see, it adds up. Well, this version adds up to being less than half the calories of your average margarita, coming in at about 65 calories!! Now I know I'm not usually about counting calories, but when it comes to making smart choices and cutting corners here and there when you can, the comparison is just a way to measure the difference.

And I have to tell you, there is no compromising flavor with this modified version of the margarita. You're still getting that delicious lime flavor, and if you choose to salt the rim, (which I always do), you'll get the contrast between salty and sweet. Gah, I love it. Is it five 'o clock yet??

    Ingredients

    • 1 ounce silver Tequila
    • 3 ounces Fresca soda
    • juice from ¼ of a lime
    • kosher salt , for garnish (optional)

    Instructions

    • Using a low-ball glass, if you decide to salt the rim, dip the top of your glass in a bowl of water and then into a plate of salt. You may need to kind of turn it on the plate to get a good coating.
    • Once the rim is salted, over crushed ice, add your tequila, Fresca, and fresh lime juice. Give it a quick stir, and you are on your way.

Hi, Holly! I’m so happy you’re here. Why don’t you pull up a chair and a mug of whatever goodness you’ve got. I’m most likely sippin’ on coffee or maybe a glass of wine, and I’m definitely in a pair of sweats and fuzzy socks. Always comfy. Always real.
