Black coffee –  You could also use cold brew coffee, but I find that black coffee works just as well! If you don’t want to use coffee, you could try using decaf green tea.

Silken tofu –   This is my favorite kind of tofu to use in this recipe, but you could also use firm tofu. If you’re not a fan of tofu, you could try using plant-based milk like almond or coconut milk.

Unsweetened cacao powder –  This gives the drink a lovely chocolate flavor, but you could also use cocoa powder.

Pitted dates –  I like to use dates because they add a lovely sweetness to the drink, but you could also use honey or maple syrup.

Step 1 Place all of the ingredients except for the cacao nibs in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.

Step 2 If the mixture is too thick, add in a little milk until it reaches your desired consistency.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong black coffee, frozen into ice cubes
  • 6 ounces silken tofu
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cacao powder
  • 2-5 pitted dates (or 1-2 Tablespoons maple syrup)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • cacao nibs (optional topping)
  • unsweetened plain almond milk (if needed for thinning)

Instructions
