I am so grateful that you support my growing passion for the last 3 years. I am finding that I not only have a passion for food, but a passion for creativity through my styling and photography. There’s just nothing like it, is there? All-American. Baked in a flakey crust. Topped with sweet vanilla bean ice cream. You know what I’m talkin’ about. Apple Pie. Absolutely nothing compares. Especially when it’s made fresh from your own kitchen.

So here’s the deal. Apple pie is my thing. It hasn’t always been though. It has come a long way, that’s for sure. Let’s see – I grew up eating frozen Sara Lee apple pies for Thanksgiving. While there’s totally nothing wrong with that, I’m sorry, but I don’t can’t taste even once tiny ounce of love that may have been put into it. The very first time I made apple pie from scratch was about 8 years ago, and I was so nervous serving it to my family. Were they going to like it? Was it going to meet their expectations since they were used to Ms. Lee serving Thanksgiving pie every year?

Really, I just needed to hear what my dad had to say about it.

So I plated up my first from-scratch, lattice-topped, caramel-y apple pie and handed it out to everyone. And just waited.
