Often, I’m getting asked where I find my motivation when it comes to achieving goals. I have so much stress and battle with chronic depression that sometimes it can be difficult to find the motivation that I need in order to reach the goals I have made for myself. Because I know this about myself, I wanted to take charge of the situation and be sure that I had a place that I could turn to that would be sure to keep me focused and motivated.
It is pretty much a guarantee that if we don’t find ways to keep ourselves motivated, we are going to come up with excuses or reasons why we don’t need to keep working towards achieving our goals. We will find ways to talk ourselves out of it. So keeping the motivation front and center is an important part of the process.
So where do I keep my motivation? Something I like to call a vision board. I have both a physical one and a couple that live on Pinterest.
My Physical Vision Board
This board is in my office where I spend a large amount of my time. The board itself is still a work in progress, but as I’m going through magazines or just find something that inspires me, I am sure to clip it out and pin it to my vision board. Usually just a short saying or a word that describes where I want to be or what I’ve achieved over the years.
My Pinterest Vision Board
This works in a very similar manner as my physical vision board, except that it’s not in my constant view like the board on my wall is. I have a couple of boards that I pin inspirational quotes to as well as affirmations and motivational words having to do with recovery and healthy living.
