I enjoyed creating this Summertime survival post for you on behalf of Socialstars and Ricola®. As always, all opinions are my own.
Don’t forget to pack your bag full of all the necessities to keep you healthy when you leave the house this summer. Let me show you what I think are must-haves!
I don’t know about you, but when the weather is gorgeous and the skies are blue, the last thing I want to do is stay inside the house. Get me to a park, a coffee shop, or window-shopping downtown, and I am one happy camper.
The only thing though is that I feel like when I leave to go anywhere, I have to take pretty much my entire house for all those “just in case” moments. I wouldn’t want to be caught unprepared.
Instead of packing my entire bathroom, kitchen, and medicine cabinet, I’ve come up with what I think are the necessities for surviving a day away from home this summer.
If you were to dump out the items of my summer day bag, this is what you would find.
- Contigo Water Bottle
- Nook E-Reader
- Business Cards
- SPF 30 Chapstick
- Erin Condren Life Planner
- Cute notebook and pen
- Deodorant to freshen up
- Hand Sanitizer
- Essential Oils (On Guard, Lavender, Peppermint, and Terrashield are my most commonly used summertime oils)
- Ricola® Revitalizing Herb Drops
- Plantronics Bluetooth Headphones to get my jams on
- Almonds and other easy-to-grab snacks
- Cute hat
Most of these items are no-brainers, like the sunscreen and chapstick. Others may take a little more explanation, so let’s get right to it.
Contigo Water Bottle – Obviously, you know that you need a water bottle while out and about during the summer months (and all months!), but why the Contigo? A few things. First, this thing doesn’t leak all over my bag, which is a huge plus. Secondly, there’s no threat of back-wash when your kids take a drink from it after inhaling all the goldfish crackers. Third, it has a handle that you can just hook a carabiner to and clip right on your bag. Easy!
Business Cards – If you are a business-owner like me, chances are, you’re trying to get your name out to anyone and everyone who will listen, right? And when you’re out and about, opportunities arise. You don’t want to be caught without a business card when your business comes up! (I always order mine from Moo.com if you’re interested)
Erin Condren Life Planner – I’m totally old-school when it comes to keeping track of my life. I don’t use calendar apps. I don’t use list-making apps. It’s all down to pen and paper for me. But of course, it can’t just be a plain ole’ piece of paper or calendar. I’m a creative person, so there’s no way I could settle with that. In walks the Erin Condren Life Planner, aka: my LIFE! My goodness, I don’t know where I’d be without it. This is my third year using this planner, and it has saved my life and made me a much more organized person. I am so much more productive because of it and couldn’t leave the house without it!
Ricola Revitalizing Herb Drops – Oh my goodness, this is a big one for me. About 2 months ago, I got a cold and cough, and let’s just say that cough is not completely gone. And of course, it hits at the most inopportune times, like while I’m in the middle of a conversation about my business… how embarrassing, right? Or what about in the middle of a presentation? Yup, just a couple weeks ago, I was at the Indulge Conference in Portland, and my cough was out of control. Thank goodness, I had my bag stocked full of these drops to tame the beast in my throat! These aren’t just any cough drops either. They have a soothing center that takes away any scratchiness or irritation at all, so they are perfect for any sort of seasonal allergies you may get too! They’re packed with a combination of 10 herbs that are sure to help you feel better. And what I love about Ricola is that they are committed to NOT using any pesticides or herbicides in their Swiss farms. That’s a company I can stand behind, so I’m sure to always have their drops with me wherever I go!
What are your go-to items for the summer while you’re out and about? Am I forgetting something???
