7. If you take public transportation, get off one stop early to have a little longer walk to the office.
Ok, so walking or biking to work may not be a possibility, but most cities have some form of public transportation that you can take advantage of. There are many reasons why I love public trans:
- less emissions from my own car
- time to read while getting a ride to work
- i don’t have to personally deal with traffic
PLUS, there’s an extra added bonus to taking public transportation. You get to choose where you get off the bus. Often in big cities, the stops are close together. So why don’t you get off one stop early and start walking toward the office?
Seriously. I know it sounds crazy not to take the bus right to your office or at the closest stop, but it’s kind of like combining public transportation and walking to work by putting yourself just close enough to work to walk, but not so close that you’re not getting any exercise.
So my friend, how are you feeling now about your office job?
Optimistic, I hope.
I know I was feeling trapped and completely unhealthy before I put these ideas into place. I now feel as though I have intentionally created an active life for myself, despite my job situation.
And that is the key. Making your current life work for your health and well-being.
