How I Optimize My Health Today to Prepare for Getting Old Tomorrow

As a thirty year young female, I am not generally burdened with the thoughts of getting older. In my mind, getting “old” is light-years away. The gray hairs are only just barely starting to pop up, and I’m not quite feeling the aches and pains of getting older. Yes, I have now hit a new decade, and unfortunately, we haven’t learned how to turn the clock backwards yet, but I believe that I have so much control over how I am going to age, and it all begins with now. There are so many aspects of my life that I want to optimize so that I will be healthy not only in my thirties, but in my forties, sixties, and maybe even my nineties! I strive to be emotionally, physically, and intellectually healthy. These three things work in congruency with each other to help you live the longest and healthiest life possible, and I don’t know about you, but I want as much life as I can possibly get! How Yoga Keeps me Young and Healthy How I Optimize my Emotional Health To be 100% honest, this awesome blog space is my therapy. This is what keeps me sane (even on days that it makes me feel INsane!). So much of my journey to complete happiness is all about helping others on a day-to-day basis. I feel such a drive to give back to the universe. Whether it’s through tidbits of feel-good quotes, or a full-on “change-your-life” plan, I want to be there to help. Helping others and feeling like I’m a part of something meaningful keeps my head in the game. If my head’s not here, how would I be able to inspire you?!

How I Optimize my Physical Health There are so many options when it comes to getting your heart rate up, but some of my favorites include jogging, practicing yoga, and getting’ my groove on in Zumba classes. Enjoying these levels of fitness helps me to still feel young and strong. If there is ever a day that I’m not able to dance, jog, or hold my Warrior, I will have failed myself and my resolve to stay healthy and young. Keeping my heart, lungs, and muscles healthy are so important to me in my quest to live as long as possible! Exercise, especially yoga, keeps my mind healthy as well. I’m relieving stress, clearing my mind, and creating healthy endorphins. How Running Keeps Me Young How I Optimize my Intellectual Health This is an easy one. Reading and Writing. I just can’t get enough of either one! Every day, I am learning more and more, with the resolve to keep my brain working. As my paternal grandmother suffered Alzheimers, and my maternal grandmother showed signs of dementia, I feel strongly that I must keep my brain active and healthy in order to stay young. Focusing on my Intellectual, Emotional, and Physical Health puts me in charge of the aging process, and helps put me at ease for the upcoming 60+ years of my life. What do you do to keep yourself young?
