Motivational Mondays: Be What You Desire to Do

Mondays. Another weekend has passed us by in a blink of an eye. Yet again were we awakened by the rude Monday morning alarm clock. You scowl at it, you make it snooze about 10 times, and then you rush to throw on your Monday blues clothes (ie hoodie and jeans), hoping you won’t run into your boss today.

And then you get to work and remember… AH! It’s Motivational Monday over at Happy Food Healthy Life! Mondays aren’t all that bad! Yay! And that’s how you ended up here, right?

So now that you’re here, I can’t wait to bring you today’s motivating words of light. And we’re off!

Be what you desire to do.” {click to tweet this}

Gosh this quote hits me hard and it hits me in a spot that is so close to my heart. If you’re like most people, you have dreams of what you want your life to look like. There’s something in this life you truly want to do. You have a pull to do something big. You have a desire to make a change in this world.

And if you are like most people, you have made excuses for why you haven’t done this thing. For most of you, it’s probably money. Or maybe it’s that you don’t think you have the knowledge or experience to do this thing. Or you don’t have the time because you work 9-5 and don’t have time for anything extra.

Well this is what I want to ask you: How badly do you want to do this one thing? How badly do you want to change lives? How badly do you want to be an active advocate for something? How badly do you want to be something big?

You’re saying, “well, yeah, I really want it, but I just don’t see that happening for a long time, if ever. I’m just little ol’ me.”

If you have the passion to want to do something badly enough, you can 100% BE it!

Let me paint you a picture. Ever since I’ve started blogging about a year ago, I have decided that I want to make a difference. I want to coach others to live healthy and happy lives. I want to help others get past diets and unhealthy body images. But I put that off because I thought I needed to get a certification. I thought this was just a dream I had in my head that wouldn’t come into fruition until I became certified as a life coach. I was speaking to one of my great mentors, Leslie Samuel of Become a Blogger, about my dreams, and he asked a great question. “Why are you not coaching if that’s what you want to do?” This is the question that would change life for me. This is the question that would make me turn the corner toward my dreams. He assured me that with my passion and experiences, I have all I need. And with that, I put up a page on my blog that turned into my first client.

My point is this. We put roadblocks up in our mind that keep us from achieving those things we truly want to do. We tell ourselves that we are not good enough. We tell ourselves that we will probably fail. We tell ourselves we aren’t qualified. But if you have the passion, the drive, and the ability to do a little self-teaching, you can do the things you want to do.

Do not put your life on hold. Do not wait until you are feel completely ready. Dive right in and start living your dreams. BE what you want to DO!

What is your dream? What do you wish you were doing with your life? What is holding you back?
