If you have been around the blog for any amount of time, you’ve probably picked up on 2 key elements.
- I feel drawn to staying healthy and eating foods that are good for me.
- I love dessert!
Generally those two statements don’t go hand in hand, but as you probably are already aware, I have made it work for me and my benefit.
I make almost all my treats from scratch. I prefer homemade to store-bought.
I use substitutes that are healthier, have less sugar, more natural ingredients, and are often dairy-free.
So when I wanted to throw a frozen treat party, I knew I was going to have to think outside the box so I could indulge and still stay health conscious.
I actually went to Walmart to pick up supplies for the party. I wanted to make sure I had all the ingredients I needed to make an amazing frozen treat bar so everyone could make their own customized frozen shake.
Thankfully, I was able to find a big selection of So Delicious Dairy Free®. The reason I was interested in those was because 1. I have had them before. 2. You can’t even tell that they’re dairy free! I wanted to be able to please everyone at the party, so it was essential that I provided delicious options that my dairy-lovin’ friends wouldn’t turn their noses up at.
I remember when I first went vegan about 12 years ago how sad I was about the loss of my favorite frozen treats. All it took was a trip to my closest health food store to find that I was in luck because there are just SO many options. Actually, SO Delicious was my first taste of dairy-free frozen treats, and since then I have been in love and haven’t felt deprived at all!
It’s funny though because since then, I have gone from vegan to vegetarian, so I do allow some dairy in my life, but I still prefer the taste of So Delicious over others!
Anyway, back to the party.
So I was sure to grab a big variety of So Delicious Treats. I ended up with the Coconut Milk Chocolate, The Almond Milk Mocha Almond Fudge, and the Coconut Milk Almond Bars for those who didn’t want to create a shake.
I also grabbed a bunch of toppings and mix-ins so guests would be able to customize their treats exactly the way they wanted. Basically, they’d pick a couple scoops of So Delicious and whatever mix-ins they wanted. Bring it over to the blender and get it all blended together nicely with some dairy-free milk.
Some ideas for mixins for your party:
Vegan Peanut Butter Cups
Ginger Snap Cookies
Dark Chocolate Spread
If you’re looking for all vegan mix-ins, make sure you read the labels and be aware of any eggs & milk.
I also like to look online to see what other candies and cookies are dairy-free. (PS – Oreos are vegan… you’re welcome!)
Of course, then you have to top it with a cute straw, and then you are set!
So I just had to share the creation I came up with that I’m absolutely in love with.
Dairy-Free Dark Chocolate Ginger Shake. Oh.Em.Gee. Seriously YUM!
I was nervous that the ginger would either be masked by the dark chocolate flavor or that it would be too much and would end up too spicy. You know how ginger can be really bold.
Well guess what? I had nothing at all to worry about! The combination of the two flavors was absolute perfection, and I was so sad when it was gone (ie – in about 30 seconds…)
No, but really. Whether you throw a frozen treat party of your own or just make this specific shake of mine, you have got to be sure to pair it with So Delicious. It’s uber creamy and totally tried-and-true! After over 25 years of making frozen treats, they’ve ensured their products to be 100% plant-based and non-GMO verified as well as no artificial coloring, flavoring, trans-fat, or hydrogenated oils. Total winner in my book!
