Today I am starting something new here on Happy Food Healthy Life that I’m so excited about. I want this site to be your one-stop health-related website. A place where you will come to get healthy recipes, words of motivation, nutrition information, and of course exercises and fitness advice. I’m not a doctor, nutritionist, or personal trainer. But what I am is resourceful and experienced. With those two things, I’m able to gather some of the awesome resources that are tried and true to me and share them with you so you can be on your way to a happy and healthy life as well.

So I decided to start Fitness Fridays. Each Friday, I will bring you an exercise routine that I have found and used myself. That way, you don’t have to spend your precious time scouring the web and Pinterest for the best workout.

Today, I decided to share a yoga video with you. Yoga is a large part of my soul. It’s where I connect with my body. It’s where I find peace. It’s where I cleanse. On top of that, it’s where I gain a ton of core strength, balance, and toning. Maybe you’re completely new to yoga like I was a couple years ago. You may not feel comfortable practicing yoga at an actual studio – plus they’re quite expensive sometimes!

I found a site called DoYogaWithMe.com, and I immediately fell in love. Especially with this particular instructor, Fiji McAlpine. She is just amazing at her practice, for one. Plus she just has a way with her words that soothes the soul. She’s wonderful but has possibly ruined me for any future yoga classes. I’m always comparing the instructors to her!

This particular yoga video is perfect if you are in pretty good shape but just aren’t sure what this yoga thing is all about. Fiji will teach you the right way to do things and be sure you are practicing correctly.

I hope you are as excited about Fitness Fridays as I am! Let me know in the comments what you think and what types of workouts you’d like to see.

Also, if you are completely new to Yoga and need a few materials to get started, these are a few of my favorites. Especially the block!! It will help you to modify some of the more challenging poses even if you are an advanced yogi!

I’m excited too! I think it’ll be an awesome addition to the blog. Glad you’re happy about it 🙂 What type of workouts would you like to see?

Yes, I hear that! I’m trying to get in at least one session a week and feel so good when I’ve practiced.

I love that this site is free. The classes around here are so pricey and I’d rather spend that money on other things. 🙂 I shared the site with another friend who also likes yoga but not the price. 🙂
I love finding great routines that I can do at home. So many require machines and I also don’t want to pay for a gym membership. I did that for years and do miss a few machines, but would rather use the weights, ball, treadmill, bands, etc that I have at home.
        Thanks, Carrie

I am excited for fitness friday. I love yoga and use doyogawithme.com at least once a day. Fiji is an amazing instructor. Have you tried any of the videos by Tracey Noseworthy? Also amazing! And when you want something slower-paced, Melissa McLeod and Nicky Jones are awesome. I am adding you to my reading list so I can check back often!

Thanks for the recommendations Chanelle! I actually took them and did a Melissa class over the weekend. Very soothing and calming. Just what I needed.
