My New-to-Me Lived-In Kitchen

My New-to-Me Lived-in Kitchen // Happy Food Healthy Life
My good friend, Julie of Confessions of a Cooking Diva, asked me a few weeks ago when I’d be giving a tour of my new kitchen since we moved into our new home over a month ago. My plan was to make it happen right away, but here’s the thing… I can’t seem to keep it clean long enough to have it “photo-ready.” Such is the life of a food blogger, right?
So I’ve come up with a solution. I want you to see my kitchen because holy hell, I’m in LOVE with it! It’s spacious (as in, more than one person can fit in it at once). I have a ton of counter space (as in, I don’t have to clear off the kitchen table to roll out a pie crust). The tile is beautiful (as in, it’s the type of tile that you can’t tell if it’s been months since I last swept). The cabinet space is massive (as in, my food props actually have a home, and I have room to go buy more)!
So, yes, my solution: I’m not getting it photo-ready. This is my kitchen, as-is. Lived in. Real. Food-blogger-owned at its best. I’m a working-outside-the-home mama and wife. I’m not going to pretend that my home is always spotless. I’m not going to pretend that I take care of my browning bananas as soon as they start to turn. Sometimes they sit there for way too long. I’m not going to pretend that I’m organized. Ideally, I’d wait until I had cabinets full of cute kitchy dishes from World Market, but those things take time, and that’s just not where I am yet. Ideally, I’d wait until everything look perfect. But with all that I do in my life and especially here on my blog, I am real. So this is it.
Enjoy my new-to-me lived-in kitchen. I am wonderfully in love with it!

{aren’t they so purdy?! i can’t tell you how happy i am to have our microwave up and off of the counter space}

{look at all this natural light!! i have never in my adult life had a window in my kitchen!! as a food blogger, i can’t tell you how insanely happy i am about this!}

{so happy that i have enough drawer space to put my spices in one. SO much easier than trying to control them in a cabinet shelf where they fall all over the place.}

So there you have it my friends. It’s not perfect. It’s definitely lived in. But it is home to me, and I have loved finding my way around my new space.

    This looks pretty darn close to perfect to me. It’s beautiful! Love your cabinets and the idea of keeping the spices in a drawer. But if you think this is messy I’m afraid I can never, ever have you over to see my kitchen. 😉

    I love your kitchen. The cabinet color is so pretty and you have a gas stove! So awesome. Also, my bananas get way more brown than that before I remember to do something with them. Sad but true.
