I enjoyed finding my calm space with the help of Ricola® as a part of a sponsored post for Socialstars.
As women, we all lead extremely busy lives, and sometimes it just gets too freakin’ crazy and we need to learn to chill out! Find out what I do to chill out from the crazy.
Here’s the deal. I’m busy. You’re busy. Our friends are busy. Everyone is BUSY!
Whether you’re a mom, a student, a wife, or any other form of female superstar, chances are high that you have a lot on your plate. I don’t know about you, but my to-do list is honestly miles and miles long. And it seems to be growing by the minute.
There are bills to be paid. There are groceries to buy. There are errands to run. Dishes to do. Floors to vacuum. Kids to raise. Meals to prepare. So.Much!
Sometimes it gets to the point where my brain just can’t take on anymore and I have to take a step back to take time for myself. If you’re anything like me, you know just how hard it is to admit that you’ve got to take time for yourself. When it comes down to it, if you don’t take care of you, how will you be able to take care of all those items on your to-do list?
There are so many ways that you can step away from your to-do list and really just focus on the act of doing nothing. It may feel strange. It may feel unproductive. It may feel like you’re totally wasting your time. The goal is to recharge and rejuvenate yourself in little spurts throughout the day or week.
Even just 20 minutes a day of “chill out” time can get you in the right frame of mind to let go of the crazy.
Ways to Chill Out!
Meditation (ie, just sitting and breathing)
I know what you’re thinking. Meditation is one of those totally scary things that we kind of skip over because it seems like one of those hippie dippie things. But what I really mean when I say meditate is just to sit quietly and breathe. I know it’s hard to shut of our minds, but I’ve learned that if I just say “breathe in” and “breathe out” in my head over and over and really just focus on my breath, it’s enough to really calm myself down and feel less stressed.
Have you gotten on the “adult coloring” craze yet? You do know what I’m talking about, right? All those intricate coloring pages that adults all over the world are spending their time on. It’s one of my most favorite and relaxing things ever. I don’t know what it is about a new box of coloring pencils or crayons and spending 20 minutes or so on something beautiful and creative, but it totally calms me down and helps me to chill out.
Writing can do wonders for a stressed out mood. In a journal. On a word doc. On a scratch piece of paper. Get your feelings out of your head and onto paper. Sometimes that’s all it takes to start feeling better and less stressed. Writing can be therapeutic, and often you feel much better once you get it all out.
Dancin’ it Out
Seriously girl, sometimes you just gotta get up and dance. Forget the bills for a minute. Forget the dishes. Turn up the beats and just get DOWN with your bad self. Don’t worry about what you look like (make sure your blinds are closed!). Just move and feel the music. Dancing is a huge stress relief and always ends up making me feel better and ready to take on my next task.
Calm Yourself From the Inside Out
Now I’m not talking about eating your stress, by any means. But there are a few little things you can eat that will totally make you feel better. A square of quality dark chocolate is one of my favorites. It is rich and always seems to calm me down. A small glass of wine also does the trick on really bad days.
Ricola® Revitalizing Herb Drops are another great way to bring a refreshed sense of lightness to your self from the inside out. They are perfect because of the effervescent center that makes you feel so refreshed. Ricola is hitting the road to help America wake up their mouths with their Revitalizing drops. Follow Ricola on their Wake Up Your Mouth Tour and you can see if they’re stopping by your city!
Just like dancing it out, exercise will totally turn your day around and help you ease the stress of your crazy day. Exercise releases all the awesome feel-good endorphins. I’m not a scientist, so I don’t know exactly what endorphins are, but I do know that they make you feel on top of the world and that your body releases them for you to reap the benefits of when you get your heart rate up. So go for a jog. Play frisbee with your dog. Chase your kids around the block. Make it happen!
I hope this has helped you come up with some ideas for releasing yourself from all the crazy that is life. You deserve to feel balanced. You deserve to have a chance to chill out. You deserve to make today amazing!
How do you plan on chilling out today?
