Now as women, we are just busy.

But as moms, that takes busy to another level. Not only are you trying to make sure you’re happy and healthy, but you gotta make sure your kids are well taken care of. Oh, and probably that significant other of yours too.

With so many responsibilities on our plates, it’s hard to figure out how the hell other people make it all happen. So today, that is exactly what I’m going to show you.

You’re going to get an inside look on exactly what my day looks like as a busy mom. I’m gonna tell you all my tips and tricks to fitting it all in, and I’m going to let you see what my life looks like for a day of healthy busy mom status.

A Day in the Life of a Healthy Busy Mom

4:45 am – Alarm clock goes off, and I get right out of bed. No snoozin’. Ain’t no busy mom got time for that.

5:00 am – Workout gear on, coffee poured, and about to head out to a bright and early Zumba class.

I’m lucky enough to live in an area where people are health-conscious and there are even a few Zumba instructors that teach classes a few times a week for FREE. Can’t beat that, right?

6:30 am – Zumba’s done, I’m sweating like a crazy person, and I’m back home to get my kiddo up and ready for school.

It’s usually a struggle because, well, he’s a 9-year-old boy who would rather stay home and play video games all day. So we argue back and forth a bit, but eventually I convince him to get up and moving.

I head down to make breakfast for the both of us. Here are a couple breakfast hacks:

  1. Make breakfast in bulk once or twice a week. On this particular day, the night before, I made a dozen egg muffins that we could use for a few day’s worth of breakfasts. Chopped mushrooms, spinach, cheese, and eggs. That’s all it took for pre-made breakfast and to save some time in the morning. I often do breakfast burritos once or twice a month as well.
  2. Prep as much as you can in advance. So, I eat oatmeal every day. After about 2 months of pulling out the oatmeal container, raisins, sunflower seeds, coconut, and whatever other toppings I wanted in my oatmeal, I got a major lightbulb moment. PREP ahead. So once a week, I make little individual serving-size baggies of my ingredients for each day. Then I just add water, microwave, and eat up! Talk about a time-saving hack!

7:45 am – Take the kiddo to school. Run whatever errands I need to for the day. Get home, shower, and get ready to work.

8:30 – 9:30 am – My work day starts, and I’m slammed until it’s time to pick my son up from school again.

I have a hard time making myself stop for my mid-morning snack and sometimes the thought of having to interrupt what I’m doing with work to go prepare some fruits and veggies is totally annoying.

Thankfully, I’ve been saved lately by Naked Cold-Pressed Juice.  Juicing and making smoothies at home is something I’m big into, but sometimes there just isn’t time. Especially on a day when I have multiple deadlines on the agenda and a bit of a pounding headache. Sometimes, you just want to open the fridge and grab a juice that’s all ready for you.

2:30 pm – After working non-stop for the day, it’s time to pick up my son from school.

I don’t know about your kid, but mine takes forever to get out to the car, so I’m always sure to bring something productive to do. It’s one of the very few times in my day when I am not connected to wi-fi, so I actually like to read a book if I can.

Right now, I’m working on a certification to become an Intuitive Eating Facilitator, so in any rare free time I get, that is what I work on.

On this particular day, I brought along my Naked Pressed just because I was feeling a little drained a needed a pick-me-up.

Of course, as soon as my son got in the car, it ended up being his after-school pick-me-up, and I was left still feeling drained. #momlife

3:30 pm – We got home from school after making a quick stop at the library so he could pick up a new chapter book to read.

And of course I had to grab a cookbook or five. Anyone else love the library? I honestly don’t know what my son and I would do without it. Probably go broke with all the books we go through.

When we walked through the door, we were taken over by the amazing aroma  coming from the kitchen. Dang, was I thankful I took 5 minutes out of my workday to throw together my Slow-Cooker Vegetarian Chili earlier in the day.

After dinner, that one thing happened. You know – the one thing we all dread.

We’re healthy all day long. We are listening to our bodies. We are eating foods to nourish us from the inside out. We are feeling amazing.

But then we put dinner away. Kids are starting to wrap up and head to bed.

And the dreaded sweet-tooth monster! Seriously. I hate him! Don’t you?!
