How to Attend a Blog Conference in your PJ’sSeptember 9th, 2013 | Posted by in Life
Obviously, I’m a blogger. One thing I have learned about bloggers is that we love to read other blogs. So I’m writing today’s post in hopes that I have at least a few bloggers reading my site today.
So here’s the thing about blogging. Whether you are brand new or have been at this for ages, there’s a TON of information to learn. It seems like there’s another new social media platform popping up every week that we need to learn about. And then all the overwhelming strategies to build your traffic. And don’t forget all those blogging friends you’ve made that you are just bursting at the seams to meet. Ideally, you would make your way to one of the many blogging conferences all over the country to learn, indulge, and meet all your blogging friends.
But then reality hits and you realize how difficult it actually is to get to one of these conferences. There’s the actual conference ticket price, which is usually in the $200-300+ range. Plus the hotel. And the flight. And the food. Oh, and someone has to take care of your kids while you’re gone. What a hassle! You might as well just stay home!
Or you could do what I did last year and can’t wait to do again in almost exactly a month. I attended my very first ever blog conference, Online BlogCon, from the comfort of my own living room… AND in my pajamas! That’s right. I rolled out of bed, didn’t stress about what to wear, fed my kiddo breakfast and got him to school, and then logged onto the conference website to start learning from awesome “speakers.” Every few hours, there was a new article and discussion from an experienced and knowledgeable blogger.
The awesome thing was that if I missed the speaker for whatever reason, I was able to access the site and read it at any time. I could have worked full time at my job, not taken any time off, and still read every “class” that evening after dinner was done and the kiddo was in bed.
There are a few different pricing options for this year’s conference, but I can guarantee that even the largest package, which is what I signed up for, is much more affordable than any conference I’ve ever seen advertised. We’re talkin’ under eighty bucks!
And with that money, the best value I have gotten out of the conference is the exclusive Facebook group I have been a part of from the moment I signed up for the conference. I have been a part of this group for the last year and have made some of the best friends ever. From the group, you will gain friendship, knowledge, and a place where you can ask any blogging question you have ever had.
I can’t speak highly enough about Online BlogCon, and hope to see you there! I will be in my pink plaid pj’s. Which ones will you be wearing??
