Ready to Make a Change?

Looks like you’ve found your way over to my new home.  Mama Hen has retired, changed her name and focus, and I just can’t wait to share my journeys and experiences with you. Mama Hen’s Kitchen was purely a place for me to share my recipes and trials in the kitchen.  Happy Food, Healthy Life is kind of like an upgraded package of Mama Hen.  You get all the food and recipes, plus a whole lot of perks along with it!  For one small fee of…. about 3 minutes a day!

I’ll be completely honest.  One of the biggest reasons for the name change was because I knew I wanted to move from Blogger to WordPress, and the thought of trying to figure out how to actually move my domain name was really overwhelming (after a weekend of researching on Google).  Besides, the name Happy Food, Healthy Life describes my focuses a little better.  Let me tell you what HFHL is going to look like.

Recipes

If you’re following me from Mama Hen’s Kitchen, you know what this will look like.  Lots of goodies in the form of cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and brownies.  There will also see a fair amount of main  and side dish ideas. Some healthy, some not so much, but all of them yummy!  I like to add lots of step-by-step pictures.

Lots of Motivation and Affirmations

This is where things change a bit.  I’d love for you to to take just a few minutes to watch a video I made just for you so that you can understand exactly where I come from and where I gained my personal experiences with food, dieting, throwing all dieting out the window, and just enjoying food without any guilt. I hope with this website, I am able to motivate you to be able to truly enjoy food the way I have.  I hope I can help at least one person to understand that you don’t have to restrict yourself from your favorite foods and be on a celebrity-endorsed diet in order to be healthy and happy.

Exercise Ideas

I know exercising is not everyone’s favorite pasttime.  I personally used to hate it.  I used to tell myself that it’s just not for me and that I didn’t have any desire to workout or really break a sweat at all.  I was happy just restricting my food and doing as little physical work as possible.  Yes, you could say I was pretty dang lazy!  Then the day came when I just made myself get up off my rear end and take myself to the gym.  The first time wasn’t easy.  And really, neither was the second.  But after a week, I was in love with going to the gym.  But I was only in love with it on my own terms.  If I didn’t feel like doing a certain routine at the gym one day, I just didn’t.  I did something I wanted to.  Something that made me feel good!  That, my friends, is the key.  Doing what makes you feel good!

I know how easy it is to get bored at the gym, so I hope I can provide you with ways to mix it up here and there.  Exercising is more than just trying to lose weight for me. It’s the endorphins that I get when I’ve completed my workout.  It’s the satisfaction of reaching a goal I set for myself.  And the biggest reason I have for going to the gym: it gives me the freedom to eat whatever I want!  Yup, you heard it.  I eat whatever I’m craving, without any restrictions.  And I’m in the best shape of my life!  This is all thanks to the exercise I have incorporated in my life.

Personal Stories, Tips, and Tricks

Much of my heart and soul will be put into words on this website.  I have been through hell and back when it comes to food and dieting, and I’m finally in a place in my life where I’m happy and healthy and ready to share my words of advice to anyone who may be struggling and wanting to find a way out.  I do not wish the struggles I went through on anyone, and if I can help just one person get through their struggle with food, I will feel as though I’ve achieved my goal.

I am not an expert.  But I have been there.  I have 14 years of eating disorders and food struggles under my belt.  Even if I don’t have an educational background in Nutrition or Exercise, I feel like I can offer a good amount of advise through the experiences I have been through.

 

I sure do hope this is something that speaks to your heart.  More than anything, I want people to come to the understanding that food is here for your enjoyment!  Do you think brownies were made for us to feel guilty about eating?  No way!  They are here to enjoy down to the last delicious bite.  There is a way to get through this life without being on a constant diet.  Sure, you have to make some healthy choices, but that’s the great thing about this life:

YOU have the power and ability to make all the choices in your life!  If you aren’t happy with something in your life, get up and make a CHANGE!
